DAY 4, Sunday - Uppsala Cathedral, Carl Larsson Garden, Falun
The discovery of Stockholm begins with views of the iconic Italian-Baroque Royal Palace and Riddarholm Church, burial place of Swedish monarchs. At the City Hall, visit the famous Blue Hall and glistening Gold Hall where the Nobel Banquet is held each year. A walk through the narrow streets of the medieval Old Town reveals rows of 17th and 18th century storybook buildings, 700 year old Storkyrkan Cathedral, the Nobel Museum and historic Stortorget Square. Then, a fascinating visit to the unique Vasa Museum, home of the restored royal warship that set off on a maiden voyage and sank to the bottom of the sea. DAY 5, Monday - Dala Horse Workshop, Lillehammer
Depart Stockholm this morning and drive north toward the town of Uppsala, seat of the Archbishop of the Church of Sweden to visit the gorgeous 13th century Cathedral, built in French-Gothic style. Several coronations of Swedish monarchs have taken place here. Then, travel to the picturesque village of Sundborn to visit the Carl Larsson Garden, home of the renowned artist and his wife. Their early 20th century home is preserved in its entirety and is an exquisite example of Swedish interior design. Continue to the town of Falun in Dalarna County, famous for its prosperous copper mines, once called "Sweden's Treasure Chest." Tonight, a lovely dinner together

DAY 6, Tuesday - Maihaugen Open Air Museum, Olympic Ski Jump, Lillehammer Brewery
Depart Falun this morning and then stop at a Dala Horse workshop. Here you can meet the craftspeople and watch as this cherished folk symbol of Sweden is carved and hand-painted. Originally a children's toy, this famous horse is now popular worldwide. The drive then continues to Lillehammer in the heart of Norway, nestled at the northern end of Lake Mjosa. The city is most famous for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. In the evening, free time to stroll through the town with its trendy arts scene, lively cafes and shops

DAY 7, Wednesday - Trollstigen Mountain Road to Geiranger
The exploration of Lillehammer begins at the expansive Maihaugen Open Air Museum, a charming living history museum arranged as a small village. View the collection of more than 180 buildings including a transplanted Stave Church, traditional Gudbrandsdalen homes, crafts shops, a postal museum and 27 farm buildings. Afterward, on to the Lillehammer Ski Jump dating back to the 1994 Winter Olympics. The view from Ørnesvingen down to the Geirangerfjord is truly spectacular! Tucked into the mountains with its eleven hair-raising hairpin bends, the road snakes its way along the steep mountainside - undoubtedly one of Norway's most mesmerizing sites. Stop for lunch in this breathtaking setting before continuing on your journey through the Norwegian countryside. At the village of Linge board a ferry and cross the Norddalsfjorden to the village of Eidsdal, then continue to the town of Geiranger at the head of the UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord. Depart Geiranger this morning and drive via the incredible Dalsnibba Pass where you will stop at the outstanding lookout, the region's highest point, for unforgettable views of towering cliffs, waterfalls and the valley below. From here it's on to the fascinating hands-on Norwegian Glacier Museum. The museum's exhibits offer a unique perspective of glaciers, their movements, crevasses and an informative audio-visual presentation. You can even experiment with 1,000 year old glacial ice! On to Sogndal, a village beautifully situated by the Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord. Dinner at the hotel

DAY 11, Sunday - Grieg’s Troldhaugen, Bryggen and the Hanseatic Quarter, Fish Market & Salmon Tasting
After a ferry ride from Mannheller to Fodnes, board the world-famous Flam Mountain Railway, a masterpiece of Norwegian engineering, for a train ride into Norway's high glacial regions. View pastures, waterfalls and snow-clad peaks, all nestled beautifully into the surrounding mountainside. Ascend to 3,000 feet within 12 miles for one of the most splendid panoramas in Norway. After arriving in Myrdal, change trains and continue to the village of Voss where your coach will meet you. This afternoon's drive through the Norwegian countryside is punctuated by a stop at a local farm for conversation, coffee and cake. Then continue to picturesque Bergen, Norway's second largest city and unofficial capital of western Norway

DAY 12, Monday - Hardanger Bridge, Torpo Stave Church, Futuristic Oslo
Today, travel to Troldhaugen, home of beloved Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg. This lakeside home that served as inspiration for his music is now used as a music school and concert venue. Then, back in Bergen stroll through Bryggen, the city's old wharf district known for its busy harbor and gabled traditional wooden buildings and the Hanseatic Quarter, founded during the days of the Hanseatic League, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a walk through the popular fish market, linger for a tasting of the freshest and most delicious smoked salmon. Later, a ride on the funicular to Mt. Departing Bergen you cross the magnificent Hardanger suspension bridge, the longest bridge in Norway - even longer than the Golden Gate Bridge. Known as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world, it's often called the Norway Sky Bridge when it disappears into the clouds. Passing through the tiny village of Torpo stop to see the stunningly well-preserved 12th century Stave Church. Learn more about how wooden stave churches were built - only 30 of these structures still remain. Arrive in futuristic Oslo, fringed with gorgeous forests, hills and lakes. A drive in Oslo reveals its striking architecture. Begin at the magnificent National Theater, one of Norway's most prominent venues for performance of dramatic arts. Next, a visit to the unique Vigeland Sculpture Park with its astonishing 212 stark life-size granite and bronze sculptures by Gustav Vigeland.
